Roses, Thorns, and Journeys

Rose River was developed by a computer programmer with a Master's Degree in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University, and over 35 years experience applying computers to the practice of medicine, medical research, and medical data, including trauma and cancer registries, ambulance and nursing data, and electronic medical records. Shortly after retiring, he was diagnosed with an incurable, chronic neuromuscular disease. Fortunately for him, his disease is being managed well and his symptoms remain mild. However, he soon realized that managing a chronic disease is difficult, and many people with the same disease are barely able to function. So he decided to put his skills to good use. The disease is a thorn in his side, but it has reminded him that life is a journey, and despite the thorns, it is beautiful.

What Rose River Is For

Rose River is designed for tracking everything related to managing a chronic or long-term illness. It can be used by the patients themselves, or by their caregivers. It provides tools for managing medications (including refills) and other therapies, for tracking disease episodes and symptoms, for generating logs and reports, identifying trends over time, and much, much more.

Built For Real Life

The app is intended to be usable when someone is tired, distracted, not feeling well, or helping care for another person. The interface is simple and avoids unnecessary complexity.

Privacy First

Rose River is built with private health information in mind. The application avoids unnecessary third-party services, trackers, analytics scripts, and external data sharing unless those choices are explicitly approved and appropriate.

Important Note

Rose River can support HIPAA-aligned technical safeguards, but software alone does not make an organization HIPAA compliant. Hosting, policies, access controls, audit procedures, backups, and business agreements must also be handled appropriately.
